I’ve been looking into the work of Sobell and her ideas of Videophone Installation. The following is one of her artifacts.
In London, Manchester, and Santa Monica (1977), Sobell placed a telephone on the ledge outside the gallery window, she sat inside facing away from the window with another telephone. A closed-circuit camera was trained on her face, and another on the faces of the public as they approached the phone. Split-screen monitors faced her and the public, with one side of the screen devoted to her image, the other side devoted to the participant. By picking up the telephone on the ledge, participants could also talk to her.

It Takes Four
Let me tell you a bit about what the “Fantastic Four” have been up to, yes, by that I mean the group. We started experimenting by filming my bedroom. We filmed Dama walking into my room and putting some of his personal items onto my dresser. The aim of this exercise was to discover exactly how much space we were working with, so that we could edit the footage accordingly when using (the) blue screen. We also documented the filming process with a video camera so that we could use it for our group blog.
